Hello,
I understand you can do a GRE/L2TPv3 tunnel (router to router) and get multicast through the tunnel. But is there a client based software to appliance VPN that will allow to do the same? If Cisco doesn't make one who does?

Hi,
Generally most of the problems you will encounter is with the router-to-router transit traffic, as you mentioned. On the other hand, the IPSec VPN client does not provide any other encapsulation mechanisms such as GRE that will allow this. However, you can terminate an L2TP over IPSec session to a Cisco router or Cisco ASA and the L2TP encapsulation will occur prior to encryption on IPSec.
Hope this helps,
Omar

Forgot to mention that for multicast you can also take advantage of the GETVPN solution. GETVPN enables secure end-to-end fully meshed network, for Data, Voice, Video, IP Multicast and other applications, without the use of VPN tunnels.
