Newbie setting up 5505 VPN for Win7 client

I have a client that has a 5505 installed. They want to VPN in with their Win7 laptop, but they don't want to shell out $1000 for the 10-pack Cisco VPN client.

I have successfully setup the clientless VPN, and they can, through a browser, get to their files, but they'd like to map network drives so it's just like they're in the office.

I tried setting the IP Sec up on the 5505, and then using  the built-in Win7 VPN network connection, but no go.

I also do everything through the ASDM, but I realize some things cannot be done. I'd prefer to use the ASDM!

Anyone else get this configured? 99% of what I see out here is how to connect the 5505 for site-to-site VPN.

Thanks!

Hi,

To my understanding every ASA5505 should have the possibility to have 2 SSL VPN connections with the Base License. Also to my understanding this includes both the use of AnyConnect SSL VPN Client (that is replacing the old IPsec VPN Client software) and the Clientless VPN through the Web browser.

The AnyConnect VPN Client should be available on the Flash memory of the ASA and is defined when you configure the AnyConnect SSL VPN Client for the first time.

On the ASDM you should be able to configure the AnyConnect SSL VPN client with the "Wizard" like any other type of VPN configuration.

The AnyConnect VPN Client is a better choice to use than the old IPsec client especially when it comes to new operating systems. The AnyConnect VPN Client can be installed from the ASA to the users computer when he/she first attempts to connect to the ASA through Web browser and logs in with his credentials.

You can purchase Anyconnect essential license which costs much less than 1.000$ - in case you need only VPN feature and not extended features Anyconnect premium offers (host remediation...). The maximum SSL VPN clients ASA 5505 support is 25.
You can also consider purchasing Anyconnect mobile license in case you'll ever want to establish SSL VPN tunnel from mobile devices likeiPad, Android..

Thanks! Ok, I found the anyconnect-win-2.5.2014-k9.pkg file!

I also show on the Home/Dashboard/License window.

VPN Peers: 10

SSL VPN Peers: 2

Does the AnyConnect have to use SSL VPN peers or can I just use VPN Peers?
