NM-8AM V2

Hello Guys,

I have installed NM-8AM card to my cisco 2651-XM router.But unfortunetly it is not detecting the above card.

i have done show ver, show diag, sh line.

In show diag it is saying that for slot 1 unknown port 1024.

Hi Max,

you must be running an IOS that is too old for the NM-8AM card. If it is new it probably is the NM-8AM-V2 card (with V.92 support). This one is only supported on IOS versions 12.3(4)XD or 12.3(7)T and upwards. See document in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5207/products_feature_guide09186a00801f129e.html

I have cisco 12.3 (12a) Advance enterprise base IOS.

Will this work ???

Max,

Nope, no chance with 12.3 mainline. New hardware is supported in the 12.3XD and T trains first and not in mainline 12.3. You will need 12.3XD or 12.3T or if you want to run mainline you will need 12.4.

Personally I don't have experience on 12.4 mainline but the later 12.3T (latest being 12.3(14)T) are pretty stable.
