Pix with backup IPSec peer

Hi Experts.

Suppose I have a hub&spoke Pix-based IPSec VPN.

Is there any mechanism to configure a backup hub? The backup hub would be in a separate location/subnet from the current one, so I cannot use the Pix failover feature.

For example, would it be possible to configure 2 set peer commands in the crypto maps at remote sites? If so, how can the remote site detect a failed hub?

For building in redundancy, you need to use your routers and configure them for GRE. A number of configuration examples are available on the IPSec support page at http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/browse/psp_view.pl?p=Internetworking:IPSec&s=Implementation_and_Configuration
