Slow speed with 5508-X

Hi Folks,

So we paid for a 10Mb/s line with our ISP, however we're only seeing speeds of 35-50kb/s unfortunately through the ASA

We only have 2 users connected and we see that CPU is only < 1%.

I see from the searches that alot of folks have had multiple issues with Duplex.

So, I'm trying to see if it may be a duplex issue:

However note that there's no Collisions that is typical of such problems even if the auto-duplex is set to half-duplex.

sh int Gi1/1

Interface GigabitEthernet1/1 "ISP", is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is Accelerator rev01, BW 1000 Mbps, DLY 10 usec
Auto-Duplex(Half-duplex), Auto-Speed(10 Mbps)
Input flow control is unsupported, output flow control is off
MAC address x.y.z, MTU 1500
IP address x.x.x.x, subnet mask x.x.x.x
1400642 packets input, 451439083 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 28540 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants
0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 pause input, 0 resume input
0 L2 decode drops
1167871 packets output, 437395753 bytes, 0 underruns
0 pause output, 0 resume output
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 late collisions, 0 deferred
0 input reset drops, 0 output reset drops
input queue (blocks free curr/low): hardware (1970/1908)
output queue (blocks free curr/low): hardware (2047/2022)

Are there any other checks one can do help debug why speeds are lower than expected?

Wanted to let folks now that we resolved the issue.

It boiled down to a Duplex problem on another port.

The Telco we worked with required we set to 10mb/Full duplex, which we did, but the speed still didnt show uploading directly to the ASA device.

Port 3 of our ASA device wasnt negotiating correctly and was falling on half duplex.

Once we resolved the device on Port 3.

Port 1 and port 3 both, now transfer at full rated speed.

To add some info

I've managed to force the Full Duplex and the 10 MB speed on the port now.

good news is that it's twice as fast,  bad news is that it went from 25kb/s to 50kb/s

Can you test a PC connected directly to the ISP modem and see if you get similar results? It is very odd that it should have been a half duplex to start.

Unfortunately I can't.  This connection for me is half way around the world so i'm having a heck of a time trying to debug it.

I forgot to mention that my speed test is doing an SCP of a package directly to the ASA device itself.

So there is nothing else going on.
