vpn error 807 and windows 7 64 bit

brand new Dell laptop and I can't get my vpn working. I get an 807 error. I have done some research and microsoft say's check port 1723 and 47. How do I check those ports on my WRVS4400 Versoin 1.1.13 router. or do I have to check my computer? I need help. Windows 7 64 bit stinks. My Xp machine works just fine.

When you are trying to VPN to your PC the error says “Error 807: The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity.
