VPN vs AVG Firewall

I'm using a RV016 router with VPN Client software on an XP machine (windows firewall disabled).

I can get a VPN connection as long as I turn off AVG firewall. I have tried reconfiguring the firewall to allow the VPN tunnel to pass through but perhaps I'm not doing it properly.

Can someone give me detailed (yet simple terminology) advice?

Thanks

Hi,

The AVG firewall might be blocking these ports:

UDP 500 --> to establish ISAKMP

ESP --> transport for VPN traffic

UDP 4500 --> transport if NAT-T is used

Check that there's an exemption to allow those ports on the AVG or any other firewall.
