Hello Friends,
Has anybody blocked spotify with Ironport Web Security Appliance? I clearly understand that the HTTPS requests that Spotify uses are matched by the Streaming Audio and Entertainment Ironport categories. I have already set those those categories to Block (in decryption policies), but it is still working. I do not know if I had to create a Custom URL category, with regex???? Would any body share with me the procedure to block spotify?
Any idea or documentation will be appreciated.
Regards!

Blocking Spotify through IronPort Web Security Appliance involves a few steps to ensure effective control over HTTPS requests. Here’s a procedure you might consider:
Custom URL Category Creation: Since Spotify uses HTTPS for its connections, consider creating a custom URL category specifically for Spotify. You can configure this category to include Spotify’s domains or URLs.
Decryption Policies: Ensure that your decryption policies are configured to intercept and inspect HTTPS traffic. Set the custom URL category (containing Spotify URLs) to be blocked or denied.
Testing and Verification: After configuring the custom URL category and decryption policies, test to ensure that access to Spotify is effectively blocked. Monitor logs or reports on the IronPort appliance to verify if Spotify traffic is being intercepted and blocked as expected.
Documentation and Support: Refer to IronPort documentation or contact Cisco support for detailed guidelines on configuring custom URL categories and decryption policies tailored to block Spotify effectively.
If anyone has specific insights or additional documentation on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.
