EQ Codec Setup

Working in a relatively complex space with multiple PTZ4K cameras, multiple Ceiling ceiling mics and multiple HDMI displays running into a EQ Codec in a tricky location (due to requirements for screen sharing via USB-C, access to the navigator etc.)

With limited access to run cabling and with only a few existing network ports, what is the best way to cable all the peripherals into the device? Do they all have to be connected directly to the Codec, or can intermediary devices and switches be used to simplify the setup?

Each Cisco camera requires its own HDMI input if you want to use native camera controls; there is no support for an external matrix switcher as there is with content inputs. You can usually use a DA for mirroring display outputs but think through the display control approach (e.g., CEC, HTTP via macro, RS232 via external control processor, etc.)

Mics depend on what you’re using. Cisco mics direct connect. Third party mics may direct connect (verify electrical characteristics of mic vs. EQ), use AES67 directly to EQ, or an external DSP which then connects to the EQ via analog, USB. or AES67. AES67 requires an option key and must use the link local network ports, although intermediate switches are supported if configured properly.

FWIW- A lot of these complex rooms end up forcing us back to the Kit Pro instead of the EQ since it has more connectors.
