Claimed Domain and User Registration

We recently claimed our corporate e-mail domain but many users had registered with that e-mail address/domain prior to us doing this. As such, we need to convert them. We have also federated to our cloud IDP and are syncing from on premise Active Directory for account provisioning. Since we have claimed the domain does that prevent users thus registering their corporate addresses as private accounts?
