Is there a way to change your availability in Webex teams? For example, to change from available to away, or to not online?

Webex-Teams automatically changes your profile-picture depending on your activity:
https://help.webex.com/en-us/wghlt5/Webex-Teams-See-People-s-Availability

Additionally you may configure your "do not disturb"-status manually:
https://help.webex.com/en-us/njzs6wl/Webex-Teams-Let-People-Know-You-re-Busy

and:
you may add custom "availability statuses":
https://help.webex.com/en-us/nhfxsmr/Webex-Teams-Set-a-Custom-Status

and:
On Smartphone and Tablets you may use the do-not-disturb - features of Android/iOS to suppress/hide unwanted notifications. But as far as I know, these settings are not recognised by the Teams-App and therefore not shown to your Teams-Contacts.

I have an issue that I put an automatic email in my outlook.  I am NOT out of the office, I just need to send a note back to all the people that send me an email.  But now that I have done that, WebTeams has a airplane on it showing that I am out of office.  How can I remove that airplane?  I am not out of the office.

That is as you're obviously using the Out Of Office function to do that. Use a simple rule instead for the auto reply.

Your status can be changed in two ways.

1 - Automatically updated based on if you are in a meetnig, on a call, out of office turned on, etc.
2 - Manual - By left clicking your avatar, you can choose Set a Status, and type in any custom status with text and various icons to choose from. You can also set a Do Not Disturb option by left clicking your avatar, and choose Availability.

Unfortunately this is no answer to the question. What we need is an option to activate the "away" status immediately, either for a certain time frame (similar to "do not disturb") or until the next activity happens within Webex which usually triggers the active status (like writing a post or even reading posts in several spaces – but explicitly not anything outside Webex).

Why? It takes much too long until the status changes from "active" to "inactive" automatically. Is it 15 min or something? Even 10 min would be too long, 5 min is borderline for an automatic switching. Best would be a setting which allows you to select 1..15 min yourself – in addition to the requested option for an immediate change.

Why is that long timer an issue? Because you pretend to be active although you went home already or something. This is very annoying for other users who want to reach you and wait for a response which they actually can expect if you are shown as active.
