Making an External email address a cohost

We have a vendor who will deliver training. They have an external email address. They have been invited to the meeting. Since they are running the meeting, I would like to make them a cohost. But they are greyed out and I cannot do that. Is there a way to make them cohosts?

You can only make an external participant a cohost after they have joined the meeting. Right clicking on their name will give you the option to make them a cohost.

For this scenario, I share the host key ahead of time with the external participant.
