Every time I leave a meeting, I have to quit not only the meeting app., but another app. which I have no use for, that launches automatically. Every time.
Worse, it thinks so highly of itself, it gratuitously adds itself to my login items, to launch on login. This is plain rude. *I* choose what apps I want at login, not Cisco.
How do I stop this super-annoying behavior?
I have tried deleting this spurious app from my applications folder, but something puts it back. I have removed it from my login items, but something puts it back. I am considering writing an app. that quits on launch and putting it in the app folder in the way of this, but that's a lot of work. Surely there is a preference somewhere?

Deleting an application is not ideal, as updates/re-installs will put it back. so, not really answered.

It's fine, my fault for not supplying enough detail.
- Operating System?
OS X, Mac
- Webex-Meetings - Meeting or Webex-Teams - Meeting? or another Webex-Product? - Name of the "unwanted" application?
It seems to be called "Cisco Webex Meetings". But so is the application that runs when I am actually IN a meeting. And also the process that makes the (unwanted and useless clutter of) the menubar application.
- Screenshot?
attached
- does this unwanted application also appear when using other Video-Call-products?
like what? it's a design bug of this product; no, Zoom, Bluejeans, jitsi, none of the others do this.
- What does this "unwanted" application do to make you angry about it?
nothing useful, but it keeps launching itself, and I have to keep quitting it. it also had the nerve to decide I wanted it launched on login, and for a while it kept putting itself back into Login Items after being removed. happily that seems to have stopped. but now it's decided I want a menubar widget with nothing useful in it and no quit option.
webex meetings is far from the only conferencing tool I use, my life (happily) does not revolve around it, as it's one of the lowest functionality conferencing tools I use. I don't need it hanging around all the time, I don't need it launching at login, and I don't need a menubar widget and I surely don't need this product insisting I need these things.

I suspect you have installed the Cisco Webex Meetings app. Which is different to the Webex Meetings app which gets launched every time you have a meeting. Yes it is VERY ANNOYING.
My suggestion is to completely uninstall the Cisco Webex Meetings - the one that insists that it need to start and log you in whether you want to or not.
Now to completely uninstall the Cisco Webex Meetings will depend on your OS. I had to do it recently and I found the steps fairly easily with a search.
You'll still be able to join meetings, although when you click the link to the meeting you'll be taken to a webpage and urged to download and re-install the annoying app.
Reading people's posts and putting effort into answering them can be frustrating - I feel your frustration. But we do owe it to the frustrated folks who put questions here to READ their question. If you had actually READ the question, you'd have seen clearly
Fair call - the Operating System would be helpful, but I think the problem exists on macOS and Windows10 (I'm not going to waste time checking Windows 10)

Thanks to the forum-software I lost all the stuff I answered to you...
in short:
I do not owe anything to anyone.
I am here just for fun, trying to support Webex - the product.
Esp. since Cisco fails to properly support non-US-Customers.
You are the "certified specialist" - I will leave it to you to answer such "special" postings in the future.

hm.. I personally think its "super-annoying" to read someones angry complaints who missed to provide any useful information like:
- Operating System? (Windows or just a Mac?)
- Webex-Meetings - Meeting or Webex-Teams - Meeting? or another Webex-Product?
- Name of the "unwanted" application?
- Screenshot?
- does this unwanted application also appear when using other Video-Call-products?
- What does this "unwanted" application do to make you angry about it?
