Limiting access to training event - does not seem to work

Has anybody else experienced this: I scheduled my Training event and chose the option that attendees could not join the meeting earlier than 15 minutes before start time. However, while I was working with my co-presenters this afternoon, setting up the session, we had an attendee join in a 23 minutes prior to start time. This is the 2nd time this has happened so I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong or if there is a glitch of some sort.

Anyone have this experience?

Eric

The option to join in advance (15 minutes in this case) is nullified by you starting the meeting. You are basically unlocking / opening the door.

I would suggest a practice session, but that is only available in Webex Events. With training, you could create a breakout room to practice in that attendees cannot join.

However, the simplest option would be Session > Restrict Access. This will lock the meeting not allowing entry until pressing Session > Restore Access.

Hey Mike,

I followed your advice on our session this afternoon. When I "restrict access," the message an attendee receives a pretty stark message "The session is locked. Attendance is restricted/limited to those currently in attendance" (or something similar to this). Do you know if there is a way to have a customized message pop up so the participant simply knows they have arrived too early? If I were an attendee who received this message, I would think there was some error, especially if I had registered for the session. It seems like a potentially confusing/off-putting message, especially for someone who is being diligent to arrive early to the session. Do you know if there is any way to moderate or customize the message?

Eric

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mike. I had completely forgotten about the Restrict Access option. That is the route to go. You are my hero, my friend!
