Hi - my team uses Webex Webinars or Suite and we used to be able to download transcripts from our sessions. This feature seems to have been removed or changed. We used to be able to see the transcript in the dashboard of recordings. Does anyone have any insight as to how to do this now? @transcripts @webexwebinars

Unfortunately this was already enabled. We are also unable to download the chats to our live webinars afterward.

Transcription requires your site admin to enable it

In Control Hub (admin view): go to Services → Meetings → Sites → Settings → Common Settings → Site Options and ensure “Create recording transcripts for all hosts’ MP4 recordings” is turned on.

Admins can also allow individual hosts to toggle transcript creation in their personal Recording settings.

Transcripts appear when the recording is processed

Once it's enabled, Webex automatically generates a transcript alongside the recorded MP4.

Transcripts usually complete in about twice the meeting’s duration (sometimes up to 24 hours).

How to find & download them:

Go to Webex User Hub → Recordings → select the webinar or meeting.

Under the Transcript pane, you can play, edit, search, and download the transcript as .txt or .vtt.

Why Transcripts Might Be Missing Now
The site option for transcripts was turned off by your Webex admin.

Hosts don't have personal transcript permission—so recordings aren’t transcribed.

Transcripts aren’t available for events in broadcast/webcast mode (Webex Events Experience)—only for meeting/webinar recordings.

What You Can Do
1. Check with your Site Admin:
Ask them to verify or re-enable the site-level transcription option and host permissions in Control Hub .

2. Verify Host Permissions:
Attend your Webex settings at My Webex → Recording → Create recording transcripts and ensure it’s enabled.

3. Locate transcripts:

After the webinar is recorded and processed, go to Recordings, click into the session, and look for the Transcript panel to download.
