1832i ME not joining controller

sushahid

Hello

I have a 3800 running as a ME and its running as a controller, which works fine.  I have added additional 1832i which is converted and image is matching that of 3800.  To power the 1832i i am using the AIR-PWR-C= but it won't join the controller.

I keep getting "Max retransmission count exceeded, going back to DISCOVER mode."  I am not sure what i am doing wrong, any help would be great. Thanks

Here are my answers:

1. yes

2. Yes it will work if you both APs (ME WLC and 1832 ap)in same domain.

3. -B and -A domain belongs to USA thats the reason both working together.

4. Canada regulatory domain must be -A. If you use -S domain in canda then its not legel and it will not work.

AP(1832) is with -S domain which is not correct and you are running US as country code on WLC.

To connect to US coutnry code wlc you must AP with -B domain.

Edit: -S domain is used for Brunei, Hongcong, ..etc

So the AP needs to be "B" in it? instead of S

My 3800 has "B" in the model number and i have 2800 which are "A"

AIR-AP1832I-S-K9

This AP has -S domain, whcih will not comatibile with 3800 (-B) domain. It will not work.

Thank you for reply so in summary i need to match Domain of AP with Domain of controller? Could you please answer my question below.

1. Since my AP Controller is B and this AP is S, is this why its mismatch?
2. What if i make the -S domain the controller and have the other -S AP join this controller, will that work? and i totally remove 3800 from network?
3. How come i can connect AP Controller B (3800) and 2802-A and they both work together?
4. If i am trying to make these work in Canada with 3 x 1832 all 3 with -S domain will that work in Canada? If controller is hosted on one of the 1832?

Here are my answers:

1. yes

2. Yes it will work if you both APs (ME WLC and 1832 ap)in same domain.

3. -B and -A domain belongs to USA thats the reason both working together.

4. Canada regulatory domain must be -A. If you use -S domain in canda then its not legel and it will not work.

Thank you for that.

2. So what prevents me from changing the domain on the ME controller to that of -S to match AP? i just tried that and its working

My speed is running great on all my devices except the iPhone X and Apple Tv, i can't seem to get more than 50mb while other devices are getting 400mb on wifi, connecting to same AP. Anything to check here?
