1. I have 1832i ap. How do I know which image is path1 or path2
Is Backup image always path2?
# sh ver
AP Running Image     : 8.3.143.0
Primary Boot Image   : 8.3.143.0
Backup Boot Image    : 8.5.161.0

2. this command shown the ap is in capwap mode
could I use ME in CAPWAP mode with WLC
if yes, does it mean I don't have to use lightweight image. I can use ME image for both ME and CAPWAP
# sh ver
AP Running Image     : 8.5.161.0
Primary Boot Image   : 8.5.161.0
Backup Boot Image    : 8.3.143.0
AP Image type    : MOBILITY EXPRESS IMAGE
AP Configuration : NOT MOBILITY EXPRESS CAPABLE

3. if I want to erase all capwap config in lightweight or ME image, I can use this
# capwap ap erase all
What is the similar command to erase all ME config

4. if ME Controller and MEAP in the same subnet, I don't have to use dhcp option 43
do I need dhcp option 43 if ME Controller and ME AP
-connected to trunk port
-connect to access port but ME Controller and ME AP in different subnet

Let me try to answer some of your questions:

1. I have 1832i ap. How do I know which image is path1 or path2
Is Backup image always path2?
# sh ver
AP Running Image : 8.3.143.0
Primary Boot Image : 8.3.143.0
Backup Boot Image : 8.5.161.0

>You are correct… part 1 is primary and part 2 is backup. You will find some info here: https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless-mobility-documents/understanding-access-point-os-images/ta-p/3123952 <>

2. this command shown the ap is in capwap mode
could I use ME in CAPWAP mode with WLC
if yes, does it mean I don't have to use lightweight image. I can use ME image for both ME and CAPWAP
# sh ver
AP Running Image : 8.5.161.0
Primary Boot Image : 8.5.161.0
Backup Boot Image : 8.3.143.0
AP Image type : MOBILITY EXPRESS IMAGE
AP Configuration : NOT MOBILITY EXPRESS CAPABLE

>Mobility Express document explains the conversion to CAPWAP if you want to join a controller: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-2/b_Mobility_Express_Deployment_guide/b_Mobility_Express_Deployment_guide_chapter_01100.html <>

3. if I want to erase all capwap config in lightweight or ME image, I can use this
# capwap ap erase all
What is the similar command to erase all ME config

> You can also use the mode button or if the ap is joined, you can also factory reset

4. if ME Controller and MEAP in the same subnet, I don't have to use dhcp option 43
do I need dhcp option 43 if ME Controller and ME AP
-connected to trunk port
-connect to access port but ME Controller and ME AP in different subnet

> With ME, I thought that all ap’s have to be on the same subnet

1. CLEAR
2. In MEAP image there is command
#ap-type
capwap Switch to CAPWAP AP type
cloud Switch to cloud AP type
mobility-express Switch to Mobility Express AP type
What is the function of capwap command there compare to lightweight image

3. I mean using CLI, in case of AP in remote sites

4. What I mean CORPORATE and GUEST in different VLAN
I think Controller must be in native vlan1
Do I still need DHCP Option43 in ME network different vlan?
Or maybe DHCP Option43 only for WLC?
https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless-and-mobility/multiple-ssids-and-vlans-on-1832i-with-mobility-express/td-p/3444433

2. In MEAP image there is command
#ap-type
capwap Switch to CAPWAP AP type
cloud Switch to cloud AP type
mobility-express Switch to Mobility Express AP type
What is the function of capwap command there compare to lightweight image

> ap-type capwap is to change the ap to lightweight, there is no reverse for that, again, same as EWC.

3. I mean using CLI, in case of AP in remote sites

> I did not see any cli reference to factory reset, just mode button and GUI: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-2/b_Mobility_Express_Deployment_guide/b_Mobility_Express_Deployment_guide_chapter_01001.html#task_5EF1AEBAD6694953AF88D402EAE1C99B <>

4. What I mean CORPORATE and GUEST in different VLAN
I think Controller must be in native vlan1
Do I still need DHCP Option43 in ME network different vlan? NO
Or maybe DHCP Option43 only for WLC? NO
https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless-and-mobility/multiple-ssids-and-vlans-on-1832i-with-mobility-express/td-p/3444433 <>

> Cisco AP’s are always on native vlan and option 43 or DNS is only for L3 discovery which is for the other technologies as ME requires AP’s to all be on the same subnet. This is the same for EWC for the 91x0 platform.

One thing I will say... I’m not a big fan of Mobility Express. I would rather have a controller or even look at getting a few 91x0 access points in EWC and that allows you to join the 1832’s you currently have.
