AP mode Local and Flex Connect local switching Enabled

Hello,

I would have a question about a wireless architecture.

We have an architecture with our AP configured as AP Mode local.

It means that the switching is centralized to the WLC, and the data flow from the AP to the WLC are encapsulated in the CAPWAP tunnel (https://ccie-or-null.net/2013/05/10/cisco-lap-modes)

We also have a SSID with the Flex Connect Local Switching Enabled.

Flex Connect Local Switching means that the local switching without CAPWAP is enabled.

So, in this case, which configuration applies ?

Do we have a switching at AP or switching at WLC after CAPWAP ?

Thanks !

Re: AP mode Local and Flex Connect local switching Enabled

Hi There,

The flexconnect configuration of your SSID, will only apply if the AP is in flexconnect mode. If the AP is in local mode, it will ignore the flexconnect settings.

Under the advanced section of your SSID you can decide whether you want to switch your traffic locally to the local lan or centrally to the WLC
