AP's from local to flexconnect controller

When AP's connected to local wlc they are connected in local mode and clients are getting that site ip addresses but when this primary controller goes down AP's joins the secondary controller which is other site controller/ head office controller. When they join they joins in local mode because they were on local mode in primary, issue here is as they join in local mode clients are getting IP's for SSID's from that site instead of local ip's. This can be achieved by changing from local to flexconnect, but we want a permanent solution for this instead of manually changing local to flexconnect mode every time they join secondary when primary wlc goes down. Can any of you guys please let me know how can we achieve this

Hi,

I can see two ways to do this.

Either change your design to flexconenct on both sites so you have the same configuration everywhere.

Or place the AP in Flexconnect mode but have the SSID on site1 as a local SSID. But on site2 the SSID as a Flexconnect SSID and a Flexconnect group for the APs so the correct vlan is punched to the AP. This way if the AP is on site1 it will tunnel the traffic to the WLC as usually but when moving to site2 the traffic will be locally dropped by the AP to the LAN on site1.

regards,
Jonas
