Bridge Point to Point with AP 1552EU - Maximun Data Rate

Hi all, I have a question for you, and I need your help.!!!

I have two site (Central and Remote) and I did a link point to point between it. These AP are managed by a WLC 5508, the distance between this AP is 30 Mts or 98 feed, I have configured the channel width in 40Mhz in the WLC, and MCS-5 in the data rate sección of Bridge AP.  I did tests flooding the link and I only can transfer 40Mbps in both directions at the same time. This ap model is 802.11n capable. So how can I increase the data rate from 40Mbps to 100 o more Mbps.?

The antennas are directional with two ports (TX/RX) and are connected in the ports 1 and 3 of AP.

Are you trying to force HT

Are you trying to force HT-MCS 5?  If so, why?

 

Also, given the distance between your radios, signal strength absolutely shouldn't be an issue.  What type of antenna (specific) do you have connected to the units?

Hi, really the customer need

Hi, really the customer need 100mbps mínimum, so I configured HT-MCS5 only for do test, I will put in mode AUTO. The antenna is AIR-ANT5114P2M-N.

I believe that with this antenna type I only can reach máximum 54Mbps, and I would need a antenna designed for use with 802.11n for achieve at least 100Mbps or more. What do you think?

Wow.  You're radios are only 100 feet apart and you have 14dBi directional panels hooked up to them?  Hopefully the TX power is configured properly and is turned *way* down.

You should certainly be able to get 802.11n HT rates between two 1550s with these antennas and 2 spatial streams.  You *should* be able to achieve HT MCS 15 at 40MHz with a PHY data rate of 300 Mbps.  Actual Layer 3 throughput would be approaching 100Mbps, but I think you are more likely to see ~80Mbps in actuality.

I think these too. I did read that, some antennas are 802.11n capable because have 2 TX ports and 3 RX ports, so my question is: this is mandatory for work at 802.11n or reach up to 54Mbps? Because my antennas have only 2RX ports and 2TX ports.!

What do you think.?

It could *theoretically*

It could *theoretically* provide superior signal quality if you had a third antenna element for the 3rd receive chain, but technically this radio and antenna combination is capable of 2 spatial streams in its current configuration.

Ensure that you have all the MCS rates enabled for the two 1550s and try testing again?  Don't artificially limit them to a lower MCS rate.
