change High Avaibility on multiple AP's at once

I would like to setup AP High Availability to set the Primary and Secondary WLC.. it is simple if I do this one AP at a time but when you have over 200 AP's it is tedious..

Is there a way to change all AP's at once.. It would save a ton of time and any human errors.

thanks

Why not create an excel script that builds your commands so you can paste that into the controller cli. Using the cli is the fastest way, you can build automation another way also.

Just keep in mind that the hostname is case sensitive. You can always search “Cisco WLC ap high availability cli”

that sounds like the way to do it..

What would the CLI syntax look like?

Commands will be:

config ap primary-base PRIMARY_WLC_NAME AP_NAME PRIMARY_WLC_IP
config ap secondary-base SECONDARY_WLC_NAME AP_NAME SECONDARY_WLC_IP

Thanks
Francesco

Also keep in mind that you cannot have the same controller as both primary and secondary, so if you are trying to swap  a <-> b  you will get an error.  You'll need to use a third controller (real or imagined) temporarily as a place holder a -> c,  b -> a, a -> b

Hi

I you have only 2 WLCs and no configs on your APs, then you can use the global configuration high availability section under Wireless menu.
However, if you already have configs on APs, then local AP config HA settings will take precedence and the fastest way to do it, will be to use CLI. With an excel sheet referring all your APs, you will be able to prepare all your CLI commands and avoid any "human" error.

Thanks
Francesco
