Hi,

I am working with 5 GHz and would like to set AP to use one of the following channels (as other channels are experiencing Wi-Fi saturation.

120, 149 , 183

But on the AP configuration, I am presented with the following channels only:

<36-5700> One of: 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 100 104 108 112 116 132 136 140
5180 5200 5220 5240 5260 5280 5300 5320 5500 5520 5540 5560 5580
5660 5680 5700

Reason why I am looking for 120.149 or 183 is I have several existing devices on other channels, mainly, 32,40, 52,100.

Any thoughts why AP do not list the desired channels to choose?Or any other alternates?

You have indeed just 3 80 MHz channels currently in Europe. If your building has thick enough walls (concrete and steel) you can probably use 80 MHz channels without issues (also depends on how much traffic your clients actually create).

[edit]

Revised my answer and corrected to 3 channels. We are lacking channel 144 and thus don't have a fourth 80 MHz channel.

Hello,

I think 183 is not available for EU country:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

I am looking more information for 120 and 149.

Finally, I have got the channel and power metric for your model.

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/channels/lwapp/reference/guide/3702e_3702i_pwr_chn.xlsx

You can have a check on for your AP (-E country), 5GHz channel 120, 149, 183 is not listed.

Ok, thanks for your efforts and time you spent to find the relevant information.

How many channels are selectable when having channel width to 80?

First thing you need to confirm the channels allowed to be used in Europe from ETSI Take a look at the channels listed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

But make sure they are allowed in your region from the regulator. For EU that's ETSI.

From the 80 MHz wide dependent on the available 5GHz channels, you will need 4 x 20 MHz contiguous channels.

You will also need to take into considerations if the AP is indoors or outdoors.

Looking at the available channels for Europe on Wiki you would only have 3 available 80MHz wide channels.

Before you go with 80 MHz wide channels take a look at http://divdyn.com/wi-fi-throughput/

You may find that you might not get the per device throughput your actually trying to achieve. You will also need to watch out for the increased co-channel interference, as any 5GHz wifi using one of the 4 x 20MHz wide channels that make up the 80MHz wide channel will interfere with your 80MHz wide channel

Thank you both, seems like there is nothing more to do when channels are nor supported in EU. Thanks for the information anyways.
