Cisco 2802e Not Broadcasting SSID

johnmike
Level 1
Level 1

I am trying to deploy a 2802e AP in my home network...it currently on my network, has an IP address and is pingable. The AP is running 8.5.0 Mobility Express code.....however when it boots up the CiscoAirProvision AP does not show up in my list of APs on my wireless devices. I suspect that the problem is that the SSID is not broadcasting...any suggestions on what the problem may be?

Thank You

John

Take a look at the log if you have console access to the device.
Could be a registration issue or a PoE issue

Hi....when I console into the device I get the cisco controller> prompt
however when I SSH into the AP I get the prompt 'AP00300040004>...the AP
prompt is an example only.

Thank You

The AP and Controller are piggybagged on top of each other. When the AP boots up you will have serial to the AP and then minutes later when the Controller comes up the serial session is hooked on the the controller instead.

Could you share a show loggin from the AP(when you SSH into it)?

Thank you for the reply...I don't have access to the AP right now...I will
provide the 'show login' data this evening and add to this thread.

Can you also post a full boot log of the AP while having a console cable attached and reload of the device?

I suggest you upgrade the software first to the latest 8.5.135.0 release:
[*08/26/2018 11:48:09.1586] Active version: 8.3.102.0
The installed version is quite buggy. No guarantee that it helps though.

The "error" message at the end seems to be just cosmetic, but would also be fixed in a later release:
https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCva60696/?rfs=iqvred

Check this thread here, somebody with the same problem: https://community.cisco.com/t5/cisco-bug-discussions/me-config-not-synced-to-aps-since-no-ap-is-present-bug/td-p/3001641

I've decided to use the GUI to upgrade the AP image but I'm problems
correctly typing the Path Name....I've tried the following with NO success:

IP Address: 192.168.1.69
C:\Users\jabruzze\Desktop\AIR-AP2800-K9-ME-8-7-106-0

I keep getting an error that the server is unreachable even though I can
ping...Can you please provide an example of what the File Path should look
like?

Thank You

You should set tftp server current directory that means tftp access default directory to your file location.
if you set it , "/ " is correct file path.

thanks,

Hi

>Radio0 not started, not enough POE power

you need more power source to enable radio.
