Hope this is the right place to ask, if not please tell me why it isint the right place. And if you also can direct me to the right

place that would be much appreciated.

Question #1

What does it mean when it says "Cisco Aironet Controller Based"?

Does it mean that the Aironet AP device isint a stand alone device, and needs a

Cisco Wireless LAN controller in the back to function?

Question #2

If you need a simple secure wireless AP that does not need a Cisco Wireless LAN controller,

for a small office conference room. What would you recommend?

Thanks on advance.

Kind regards.

> it really is an AireOS controller and any access point model that has AIR-CAP or AIR-LAP is a lightweight access point and requires a WLC to function  you can convert them.

> look into a 1602i or the newer 1702i. The 2602i and the 2702i is one model higher and has better performance, but in your case a 1602i or 1702i would work also.  Make sure it is a AIR-SAP.  SAP=Standalone access point.
