I opened a case with Cisco TAC team and the Configuring Maximum Number of Access Points to be Supported could not be configured anymore from the CLI and GUI (number is directly related with the license count).
I Tried to use the command several platforms and versions (8.2, 8.3, 8.5) and it is really not supported.
The TAC said that it's no plan to be implemented in future releases.

The TAC team sent a feedback to the team that updates the documents ,but there is no ETA for the changes

I'm using a Controller code 8.3 but the command below is not working:

config ap max-count count

On the Guide, says it's possible to configure:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-3/config-guide/b_cg83/b_cg83_chapter_0100.html?bookSearch=true

(Cisco Controller) >show ap max-count summary

Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

(Cisco Controller) >config ap max-count 25

Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

What WLC and code version 8.3.? are you running?

For the show command can you do:

show ap maximum

I cant see this feature work in 8.5.x or 8.2.x

The command was only added i believe 7.5.x and above maybe they removed it

Post the output of:

show license capacity

Details on the config ap max-count command:

You can configure the maximum number APs that can be supported on a controller. The controller limits the number of APs that are supported based on the licensing information and the controller model. The maximum number of APs supported that is specified in the licensing information overrides the number that you configure if the configured value is greater than the licensed value. By default, this feature is disabled. You must reboot the controller if you change the configuration.

What are you trying to actually use this command for? There might be another way to do it

There is another post showing someone not finding the command in 8.3.143: https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless-and-mobility/how-to-change-maximum-allowed-ap-on-virtual-wlc/td-p/2516294 so thinking they might have removed the command but haven't updated the doco

I'm running 8.3.143.The commando is not working on that version:

(Cisco Controller) >show ap max-count summary

Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

(Cisco Controller) >config ap max-count 25

Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

(Cisco Controller) >show sysinfo

I want to monitor the license usuge via monitoring tool.

On the Guide below related to version 8.3 says it's possible to configure that comand:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-3/config-guide/b_cg83/b_cg83_chapter_0100.html?bookSearch=true

Fiz o teste também na versão 8.2 e não funcionou da mesma forma:

(Cisco Controller) >show sysinfo

Manufacturer's Name.............................. Cisco Systems Inc.
Product Name..................................... Cisco Controller
Product Version.................................. 8.2.160.0
Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.1
Field Recovery Image Version..................... 6.0.182.0

(Cisco Controller) >config ap max-count

Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

(Cisco Controller) >show ap max-count summ

Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.
