does co-channel inference bring down SNR

Cisco document says Cisco APs take 802.11 recognizable noise signal as interference, none 802.11 signals as noise.  So will a neighbour company's AP on the same channel bring down my wifi clients' SNR reading in their status page on WLC?

I think it will, am I right?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

SNR compares the level of a desired signal to the level of background noise. So in this case 802.11 recognizable signal (including neighbour AP's) is not noise and hence will not come up in your SNR calculation.

Non 802.11 interference like micorwaves, cordless phones, bluetooth will come up as part of the calculation.

Hope this helps.
