External DHCP server

Not applicable

Could a remote WLC 5508 configure a pair of anchor WLC 5508 as primary and secondary DHCP servers? Could this pair of anchor WLC 5508 configure an external DHCP server as primary DHCP server?  Will a wireless client get a private 10.10.x.x IP address from an external DHCP server through remote and anchor WLCs.

The DHCP scope. 10.10.x.x, on external DHCP server is non-routable in the production network.  Remote WLC has one management interface has production IP address.  anchor WLC has one management interface has procution IP address and one wireless-guest interface on 10.10.x.x DMZ network.

Thanks,

Eric,

The WLC's can act as a dhcp server, but if you have redundant anchors, you need to split the dhcp scopes between the two. In this case it almost makes sense to have a dhcp server in the dmz for this. This way you don't have a split scope, but it's not required. As long as the anchor wlc have an interface on the subnet the guest will be on, this will work. If you have the anchors in two different data centers and the guest subnet is different. Then each anchor will have a different dhcp scope.

Makes sense?
