Guys,

I just upload the Mobility Express image to my Cisco WAP 2802i, After complete the Wizard  I can't connect the WAP, not even by Wifi or wired. Notice that I have not configured DHCP Server due to I pretend to use the WAP in a Standalone mode as Local Bridge. The WAP also does not respond a ping. The WAP SO is AireOS 8.5.140.0 version.

The WAP is connected to an ACCESS PORT, 1000 Gbps port speed.

Does any body knows what could be cause ?

Thank you,

Guys,

I got it !!! Here is the thing.

I want to have the DHCP externally just for "Wireless Users".

I also want to provide statics IPs to the WLC and the WAP attached.

When you do NOT configure an "INTERNAL DHCP Server" in the WLC first configuration wizard, it seems that the WAP attached to the WLC in Mobility Express mode do not know where to join, so this should be done manually. I did the following in order to allow my Mobility Express WLC and WAP work together.

Step 1: I switch from the WLC CLI to the WAP CLI

(Cisco Controller) > apciscoshell
AP7070.8BD0.0342> enable
AP7070.8BD0.0342#
AP7070.8BD0.0342# capwap ap hostname air01
air01# capwap ap ip 10.20.200.6 255.255.255.0 10.20.200.100 10.20.202.1 10.20.202.2 mydomain.local
air01# capwap ap primary-base wlc1 10.20.200.5

Guys after these commands I switched back to the WLC CLI and everything started to work.

air01# logout

So my conclusion is that if you don't want to use the Internal DHCP Server on the WLC Mobility Express Mode, and you want to use the WAP attached as LOCAL BRIDGE MODE for users accessing the Wireless network, you have to manually integrate the attached WAP and the WLC.

I also want to add that the WAP converted into a WLC has the LED state ALTERNATING BETWEEN GREEN AND RED, which means "Discovery/join process in progress".

Does anybody have an idea what is happening here ?

thank you,

Two possibilities that I could think of.
1. You waited around 10 minutes for it to complete booting?
2. You are providing it with PoE+ power?

Can you show the output of a "show interfaces"?
