POE to power the AP and fiber as uplink

Hi 

if the AP has SFP port and PoE port, is it possible to power up the AP using PoE and use the fiber port as uplink ?

Hi Asus,

Yes but there are only some APs that come with this capability such as some 1550 and 1570 Series APs. You can only use one of those links to connect to the WLC at any time.

how will the AP know which port to be used as uplink ?

Hi Asus,

I'm not sure actually - I suspect from the link below that once the AP detects an SFP port is up it will use that over the ethernet link but you'd need to test.

Here's an install guide for the 1572.. the APs that support this are generally for outdoor use with high gain antennas - what are you actually trying to achieve? Have you purchased one of these APs already?
