Roaming behavior 802.11r and 802.11v

Hi ..

Can anyone please explain how the seamless roaming of a client is possible during 802.1x L2 authentication

What if I don't enable FT: 802.11r or 802.11v: BSS transition or both.

Will the client has to go to a full 802.1x authentication every time when client roams between AP's on same controller, in case I don't enable both of the above. Or the seamless roaming feature is supported by default.

Thanks,

Anand

If you do not enable fast roaming mechanisms, then yes client has to go through full authentication if it moves to a new AP. Refer below document which is clearly explain all roaming methods in detail
