Transitioning between 2.4 and 5.0 on the same SSID

Hey everyone, I have this question, does anyone know how much time it typically takes to transition on the same SSID but between 2.4 and 5.0 spectrum?

Essentially i have clients that in certain areas of the floor are associated on the SSID on the 2.4 Spectrum, but when they move around they are associating themselves on the same SSID but on the 5.0 Spectrum, this transition can take up to a minute if not longer,

Has anyone encountered a similar like issue?

End of the day client will decide on which AP they join and on which radio band. You have to know about client roaming criteria before come to a conclusion.

From WLC perspective, if you have configured band select, then 2.4GHz association will be slower than 5 GHz by design.

In a perfect world, you design your network not to have this sort of roaming. Simply have 5GHz coverage that a dual band clients can have smooth roam on 5GHz without changing to 2.4GHz back & forth.
