WLC 5508 & AP NOT REGISTERING

JAYESH RAMAIYA
Level 1
Level 1

Hi

I am hoping that you can assist

We have installed a new 5508 WLC into a new buinging and also installed new 200 AP's which are 2802i. These have been
converted to capwap using AP-type capwap command.

On the WLC, not all the AP's are showing up as connected. They do pick up an IP address in the allocated range from the
DHCP. I have checked the liciences and these are OK. The AP's that are not connected are blinking red and green.

I have checked on the config and noticed that back up boot image is 0.0.0.0

Could this be due to the CAPWAP change?

Thanks

Could be. Please attach a console cable to one of the affected APs and provide us with the boot log.
There is also the possibility that the AP isn't getting enough power, the 2802i require 802.3at (PoE+).

AP1212#

I'm confused, is that the same AP or two different ones with the same name?
I'm asking because once it has software 8.5.140.0 and once 8.5.131.0. Are you maybe running two controllers in the same vlan with different software?
While rechecking your output, it really looks like those are two different units (different serial numbers).
The second one is running Mobility Express image, please convert it to capwap, by entering enable mode and then type 'ap-type capwap'. It should reboot and connect to your WLC 5508.
Regarding the 5508, have you enabled an European country (show country)?
Have you enabled the license (show license)?

AP is on UTC and WLC is on European time. I would have thought that the AP would have got that information/time from the WLC.

Not just time, the configured country must match the AP model, in your case -E- models, which stands for Europe (and some other countries).
Can you please show the output of:
show country
show license
