Re: wlc 5508 join new AIR-LAP1142 access point

There is a firewall in the branch office and first I did a factory reset on the ap.

Then I did the lwapp configuration.

I noticed in the firewall logs that the ap wanted to reach the wlc, but these packets were dropped.

So I allowed them. There is full reachability from branch to wlc.

But there is a problem now: I don't see any packets anymore from the ap to the wlc. I rebooted the ap 5 times but it seems that it doesn't want to reach the wlc.

AP reset to the factory it relies on DHCP Options to reach the controller. how is your AP Getting IP address ? from DHCP

then you need to setup DHCP options like other braches to reach WLC.

compare DHCP option working one with and make changes accordingly.

@balaji.bandi

I configured a static ip address with command:

lwapp ap ip address 10.10.10.10 255.255.255.0

you need to configure WLC IP address also, same and reboot - post complete boot output to understand

AP#capwap ap primary-base <WLCName> <WLCIP>

Re: wlc 5508 join new AIR-LAP1142 access point

capwap command is not available. only lwapp command:

lwapp ap controller ip address

During boot, ap says:

Translating "CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER"...domain server (255.255.255.255)

%CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Could not resolve CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER

%CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY
