WLC 5508 vs 2504

Hello,

What are the main differences between 5508 and 2504, beside number of supported APs?

For our deployment (22 ap) 2504 is cheapest solution (half price of 5508),

but are we losing some important features with wcl 2504?

Thanks in Advance!

it is basically the hardware and number of supported APs. and ofcourse ti depends on the licenses for the APs you get from cisco. If you are considering budget go for the 2504 or check the 4400 standalones.

rate if this helps.

Hi Dusan,

Here you go .

Not supported on 2504.

•Support for wired guest access.

•Cisco 2500 Series Controller cannot be configured as an auto anchor controller. However you can configure it as a foreign controller.

•Supports only multicast-multicast mode.

•Bandwidth Contract feature is unsupported.

•Access points plugged directly into the WLC.

•Service port support

•Apple Talk Bridging

•LAG

•Wired Guest

4400 is end of sale.So you can no longer order it.

Thanks..Salil

In an enterprise environment, I wouldn't recommend a 2500.

If you are on a budget and you don't care about redundancy, then 2500 is so-so (but not that great).
