XOR Radio Role Assignment with FRA disabled globally

Hello Experts,

Will XOR radio assignment will still happen with FRA disabled globally?

I was of the opinion that with FRA disabled, the XOR radio should default to 2.4GHz radio. There are however few AP4800 in the deployment that their XOR radio is getting assigned with 5GHz client serving radio or the radio role monitor.

Did that happen before or after you disabled FRA?
If before then it will not change back automatically - you have to force it back manually:
See https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvk04696 - need to use 'config advanced fra revert'
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-3/b_RRM_White_Paper/b_RRM_White_Paper_chapter_01000.html
"A radio will not return to 2.4 GHz unless reverted (through CLI) or manually configured from the GUI/CLI. Automatic reversal only happens in the case of coverage hole alerts on any of the original contributing coverage radios. That means - once a radio is placed in another role - if any of the radios that are contributing to the coverage to allow an alternate role experience coverage hole alerts, the flexible radio is reverted back to 2.4 GHz immediately."

Thanks Rrudling,

Yes, as pointed by you, If FRA was ever ran on the XOR radio, the radio role (monitor / 5GHz radio) will be locked on that radio overriding the global configuration and has to be manually reverted back.
