Dear Experts,

I tried looking at datasheets but couldnt find this info. Can someone tell me or point me to the document which specify the number of internal antennas for 2800 and 3800 APs?

You look at the number of spatial streams and that tells you how many tx and rx antennas.

Hi,
We can see Figure 5. Picture of the embedded antenna system and 3D antenna heat maps
in Cisco Aironet Series 2800/3800 Access Point Deployment Guide; <https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-3/b_cisco_aironet_series_2800_3800_access_point_deployment_guide/b_cisco_aironet_series_2800_3800_access_point_deployment_guide_chapter_01001.html>.

I understand that AP2800i and AP3800i have 4 antennas of 2.4/5GHz Dual Band for Macro-Cell.

So is it part of standard that number of spatial streams equals number of TX and RX antennas?

Hi,

I understand that the IEEE 802.11 standard only specifies the number of spatial streams and that the standard does not specify the number of physical antennas.

The data sheet tells you, it can be 3x3x3, 4x4x3, 8x8x4, etc. the first two are the tx/rx and the last is the SS.
