Resolution

The Ethernet port (fec0) on your Access Point (AP), bridge, or base station may repeatedly start and stop, generating the following log messages:

Stopped driver for port "fec0"

Started driver for port "fec0"

If this happens continuously, proceed with the troubleshooting steps below. Check the results after each step.

  • Reboot or power cycle the unit.
  • Reset the unit to its factory default configuration and reconfigure.
  • Load the latest available firmware by referring to the Wireless LAN Cisco Downloads.

If these steps fail to resolve the problem, it is recommended that you contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for further assistance.
