Core Issue
Commonly, when association is lost to the parent it occurs because there has been Radio Frequency (RF) interference, or the client has lost authentication.
Resolution
This error message indicates the wireless device has lost association. This may occur between wireless bridges. It may also occur between an Access Point (AP) and a repeater or Workgroup Bridge (WGB).
Commonly, when association is lost to the parent it occurs because there has been Radio Frequency (RF) interference, or the client has lost authentication.
The parent or root sends a packet across to the client or non-root, and waits for an allotted time for a response. If the response does not come back, the lost association to the parent error will show up on the logs.
Possible solutions include the following:
- Check for RF interference
- Check the antenna alignment (if you are using directional antennas)
- Change radio channels
- Ensure the device configurations have not changed
- Check connectivity to the AAA server if it is required by the authentication method.
