Core Issue
After scanning for an unused Radio Frequency (RF), the unit selected the displays frequency.
Resolution
The default behavior of an Access Point (AP) at bootup is to scan the RF spectrum for an unused frequency or channel. It then selects what appears to be the least congested channel.
This informational error message serves to let the user know which channel has been selected.
If you suspect RF congestion, you can run a carrier-busy test by issuing the following command at the Cisco IOS Software command prompt:
ap# dot11 dot11Radio 0 carrier busy
Running this test disconnects all clients.
If the auto-selection of a channel does not suit your needs, you can use the results of this test to choose a channel to manually configure the radio interface to use. You can do this by issuing the following command:
ap(config)# int dot11radio 0
ap(config-if)# channel [number]
For more information, refer to the Configuring Radio Channel Settings section of Configuring Radio Settings.
