Hello,
I'm trying to configure these new 3802s we got but when I plug them in, all I keep getting is "waiting for uplink IP address and reachable default gateway"
When i do capwap ap ip address and type the ip, subnet and default gateway or just IP and subnet I get "Error: invalid ip/netmask/gateway config." nothing takes.
Any suggestions? the current VLAN doesn't assign IPs via DHCP and that's how we have all other APs (again these 3802s are new to us)
AP Running Image : 8.2.151.0
Thanks

I saw this with CDP neighbor:

And this was spamming on the AP console port:
waiting for uplink IP address and reachable default gateway
What worked for me was to configure a static IP on the AP (while getting spammed the above message) using:
capwap ap ip 10.20.30.40 255.255.255.224 10.20.30.1
The AP almost immediately found (and joined) the local controller. I only had three new AP's that had this issue, this would be a major headache at a larger installation.

The IP address is actually the MAC address (of the AP) "translated" to IP.

Have a look at this: FN - 70143 - Some 3802 Wireless Access Points Might Be Unable to Connect to the Wired Network - Hardware Upgrade Required
Contact Cisco TAC and get them to load a different version of firmware via console.
