I searched this forum for an answer and as of 2009 the response to this question was that Orion performs a show run on the WLC and backs that up but restoring a WLC with this txt file will not work due to the configuration being incomplete. Is this still true today? If I dont have a WLC on WCS is there a way to now back it up having Orion issue a command and save it to txt? If so what would that command be, show run or show running-config?

Doing a show run is not the best way to get a "backup" of the config. I know in the past there were ways of running scripts that would essentially perform the handful of commands to start a tftp transfer.
I think it was something like this:

Check all the "transfer upload" commands on CLI. Best way to automate a backup.
what you found in 2009 is not true anymore.
Now it's a "show run-config commands" which would print the commands
