Hi All,

We have planned to upgrade from Cisco Physical server Gen 1 PI 2.2 to PI 3.0 (Deployment on VM)

Is license will apply , after restore the backup of PI 2.2 on PI 3.0 on VM or  do i need to buy license for that ?...Thanks in advance.

The license can be migrated is you have them as PI 3.x isn't bound to the udi. However since the license model has changed, if you had lifecycle license before, that will not transfer. 

I also would not restore from a previous version. I would export the devices and maps and then import the devices then maps to your new version. 

This is what I have done in the past and still do.

We had both Base and lifecycle license on PI 2.2.

is it take the Base, Lifecycle license by import the device and maps into new deployment server?

do I need buy license again for 3.0? If license is not restore from previous version which had the lifecycle license.
