Compatibility WS-C2960X-24PD-L vs AIR-AP2802E-S-K9

Hello,

I've connected 22 new model  of AP on 3 differents switches and I encounter each time the same issue :

After a short while all AP move from status :

Gi1/0/1 auto on 26.1 AIR-AP2802E-S-K9 4 30.0

to

Gi1/0/1 auto on 26.1 Ieee PD 4 30.0

And then never reach WLC.

switch model : WS-C2960X-24PD-L - 152-4.E7

AP model : AIR-AP2802E-S-K9

Is there any compatibility issue ? I don't find any topic telling that.

Thanks for your support.

Fred.

I've found the solution.

Just before AP crash, I've to connect on each AP remotely by default credential (I'm not on local site) and set  parameters : ap-type capwap.

Never seen that before.....

Thanks all for your help.

Pls post "sh run inter x/x" and "show cdp nei x/x detail" where x/x is one of your switch interface that connect to an AP.

Re: Compatibility WS-C2960X-24PD-L vs AIR-AP2802E-S-K9

Hi

It seems to me some communication problem between AP and switch. Firstly switch is able  to identify the AP and then fail to do so.

Make sure CDP and LLDP is enable and try to run "debug ilpower event".

Ieee PD means the switch is not identifying the AP as an AP and then probably not providing proper power.

Re: Compatibility WS-C2960X-24PD-L vs AIR-AP2802E-S-K9

Here's the "sh run all"  interface config, anyway switches are brand new and config is very basic, just a data VLAn in access mode.

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/2 switchport access vlan 111 switchport mode access no switchport nonegotiate no switchport protected no switchport block unicast no switchport block multicast switchport port-security maximum 65535 vlan voice no switchport port-security mac-address sticky no ip arp inspection trust ip arp inspection limit rate 15 burst interval 1 ip arp inspection limit rate 15 load-interval 300 carrier-delay 2 no shutdown tx-ring-limit 0 tx-queue-limit 0 power inline auto max 30000 cdp tlv location cdp tlv server-location cdp tlv app ipv6 mld snooping tcn flood snmp trap mac-notification change added snmp trap mac-notification change removed snmp trap link-status mls qos cos 0 mls qos dscp-mutation Default DSCP Mutation Map no onep application openflow exclusive arp arpa arp timeout 14400 spanning-tree port-priority 128 spanning-tree cost 0 channel-group auto hold-queue 75 in hold-queue 40 out ip igmp snooping tcn flood

I've also seen this log just before AP came back in IEEPD status :

001372: Sep 12 12:37:15.179: CDP-AD: Aging entry for AP5C5A.C799.428A, on interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

Looks like the AP is crashing.
What firmware is the controller running on?

One more thing, there was a PoE bug with your switch. You are already running a fixed IOS, but the upgrade required a full power cycle, see CSCvf42171.
