FlexConnect Mode

Hello,

I have around 70  access points which are deployed under a 3504 controller on the same network.

My question here is regarding the flex connect mode, is there any mode where i use which will give the ability to the AP  to route all data traffic through the CAPWAP tunnel while the WLC is reachable and then switch the traffic locally if the controller is down?

Thanks.

I believe it's a one or the other setting. Not a failover. You can run them in local or flex connect modes. If you're concerned with the 3504 failing and losing wireless connectivity, just run the APs in flex connect. What is your reasoning for not wanting to run full time in flex connect? Side note, have you had the 3504 fail before? How vital is your wireless that an outage will prohibit business? I run local as much as possible, but typically have redundant WLCs as well. I will say that in 5+ years, I've never had a WLC fail either.
