Some clients get a 0.0.0.0 address on the WLC

Hi Guys,

I have a problem that I need some advice on please.....

On my WLC 5508 I see some clients that don't get a IP address. (See pic1)

These clients also have "DHPC_REQD status in their Policy Manager State. (See pic3)

As I said some clients.... Some work ok... (See pic1 / pic3)

My WLC is running version 7.6.130.0.

DHCP is coming from a Local windows DHCP server.

These devices do not have a static address.

Thanks Guys.

Under WLAN > Advanced tab, have you ticked "DHCP Address Assignment" option ? If not try to tick that and see.

Hi Mate,

Thanks for the tip, but from what I read... this option will stop clients with a static address from working..

But what I'm seeing, is some clients on a AP have this problem and others on the same AP do not. ???

Hi,

Please make sure the IP pool which you configured on the DHCP server has enough Address space.

& please mention your AP model as well so we may further check the root cause.

Thanks abwahid - yes, plenty of address space free in the DHCP scope being distributed.

We have a mix of AP's in the Infrastructure:

1131

1242

2602 (these are in use in the area causing concern)

were you able to get a fix for this ?

I had the same issue and it turned out to be a DHCP enrollment certificate that had expired on the DHCP server. Users in specific SSIDs were not getting IP's and therefore showing 0.0.0.0 because they were using a different certificate that had expired.
