Thanks dzwissler! This is exactly what I was looking for. I changed the AP to "local" mode via a console cable, it rebooted, connected to the WLC and downgraded to the loaded software version and the rest is the same as the 2600, 2700 and 2800 model APs. Just for reference based on some of the above posts. The 1560 Outdoor AP came with 8.5.131 loaded and after connecting to the WLC downgraded to 8.3.133.

Hello,

Do you have others APs successfuly joined on the WLC?

If dont, do you have license? Did you activated your license?

Is it your WLC properly  configured for time and zone?

Thank you for your reply

I have arround 800 AP's on the WLC - But non of that type. Most of them are

2702I and we have just upgrded Controller and Prime so we can start using 2802I

I was told that the 1562I should be almost the same as 2802I just for outdoors use.

I have 1000 License and are using only 800 - And yes the are activated.

And yes Time and Zone are correct.

Johnni

I thougt that the version above 8.3.111.0 could use this AP.

We are Running 8.3.121.0 - That should to my understanding support this AP.

Am I wrong here?

Johnni

Hi there!!

Well I'm not really sure about it but this text:

"Table 2 lists the Cisco WLC software releases that support specific Cisco access point modules. The First Support column lists the earliest Cisco WLC software release that supports the access point module. For access point modules that are not supported in ongoing releases, the Last Support column lists the last release that supports the access point module."

The only versión for that AP is 8.3.11

I can confirm that the 1562I works correctly with my controller running software version 8.4.100.0.

Just in case that helps..

Thanks - Now I know my Controller can handle the AP.

Thanks

Based on the Release notes for 8.3.122.0 the 8.3.121.0 software should support that AP..  Read Below..

However... It does specifically mention that a Key Feature not supported on Cisco Aironet 1560AP's is "MAC Authentication Flex Local Authentication" and "Static WeP"

I copied and pasted the below info from different areas of the 8.3.122.0 release notes.

Release 8.3.122.0 is a repost of Release 8.3.121.0 with the inclusion of three caveats in the Resolved caveats list.

There are no other updates in this release, all resolved and open caveats in addition to three resolved bugs apply to this release.

Can you post the complete output to the WLC command "sh license summary"?

The Evaluation is due to a error at Cisco - The are finding a solution to this. But for now the keep activation the evaluation since we upgarded the Controller.

3. AP: sh ip interface brief

Will post that later - Hope thats okay.

The output to the command "sh time" shows no time server, is this correct?

If you console into the AP and enter the command "capwap ap primary-base <CONTROLLER NAME> <CONTROLLER IP ADDRESS>" does this make a difference?
