I want to configure two WLANs which will terminate on two diff vlans.
So how i need to configure WLC , and AP. Please check if i am correct!!!!
1. WLC: Trunk connection to switch ?
2. AP: Trunk connection to Switch ?
I heard that AP must be access mode (Local AP) but then how AP wills send traffic to WLC for diff vlans ?
Please clarify!!
Thanks

Hi,
1. WLC: Trunk connection to switch ?
WLC --> swicth connection must be trunk:
here is the smaple config:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1 description Trunk Port to Cisco WLC switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport trunk allowed vlan 2-4,60 switchport mode trunk no shutdown
2. AP: Trunk connection to Switch ?
If AP is in local mode then ...AP connected on switch must be in access mode.
Example:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/22 description Access Port Connection to Cisco Lightweight AP switchport access vlan 5 switchport mode access no shutdown
I heard that AP must be access mode (Local AP) but then how AP wills send traffic to WLC for diff vlans ?
If you are running CAPWAP local mode, the AP sends all of the traffic to the WLC to be processed. so we just need to allow thse VLAN where WLC is connected and need to create interface on WLC for each VLANs.
AP is just a plug and play device , you do not need to tweak other settings but make sure that the WLC is configured properly.
