Wireless APs dropping off of network

aaron.banks11

AP Model: IW3702-2E-UXK9

Software Version 8.2.161.0

Boot Version 15.3.0.0

WLC: 5520

Software Version 8.2.161.0

We are currently experiencing an issue with WAPs becoming unregistered and when trying to re-register, we see BAD_ADDRESS in the DHCP scope - address already in use.  Pinging the address yields no response.  The BAD_ADDRESS is removed but the WAP can't get an IP address.

I'm unsure on how to proceed with troubleshooting.  In my experience, removing the BAD_ADDRESS entry has worked.

Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.

What type of DHCP server are you using?

Also, what is the reason to stick with 8.2.161.0 code release? It is not a recommended code unless you have old model AP that won't support beyond 8.2.x. Here are the TAC recommended code releases

Agreed with Rasika - even the latest version of 8.2 (8.2.170.0) is now 2 years old. If you really must use 8.2 then at least upgrade to 8.2.170.0 which is the TAC supported release. But really you should be thinking more along the lines of 8.5.161.0.

As for your DHCP server problem - probably best to speak to whoever supports that server.
