Hi ..

configured CIMC Port on WLC 5520.
set admin password on cli

(WLC5520) >imm username admin password test123 test123
(WLC5520) >imm summary

This will take some time...
Please be patient!
User ID.......................................... admin
DHCP............................................. Disabled
IP Address....................................... 10.10.10.10
Subnet Mask...................................... 255.255.255.0
Gateway.......................................... 10.10.10.1

But can not log in with admin and the set password.

Login failed. Verify that your username and password are correct.

When doing imm restart with "imm restart" - will the whole WLC reboot, or just the CIMC module?

And if that doesn't help note that I also managed to find 2 bugs https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvm10519 and https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvm10538 that can effectively disable the CIMC admin login. If the FN doesn't solve your problem then your best option is to reset CIMC to factory default to regain access, then make sure CIMC is updated to latest version and if possible upgrade to latest WLC software which has the fixes for those bugs.
From Cisco TAC:
1- Connect screen and keyboard to the server.
2- Reboot the server.
3- Once you see Cisco logo press F8.
4- Choose reset factory default.
5- Save and exit.
6- Reboot the server again and configure CIMC.
It’s basically will revert server to default settings and you will need complete setup procedure (default password is password):

Hope that helps :)
