Cisco WAP4410N - hanging up providing no wireless signal - latest firmware Version: 2.0.6.1

We have several of these units and see this recurring problem of no wireless signal.

All the lights are on, PoE, Ethernet, except wireless.

Only way to bring unit back to life is to power cycle the unit.

I have seen various comments on the forums suggesting similar problems, unfortunately we did not see these before purchasing several of these units.

Cannot see any solutions posted by Cisco and last firmware update seems to be over a year ago.

What we see in syslog is constantly these group of messages

Any help?

We didn't have any support contract either - just contact Cisco to create a case. They have released a beta firmware upgrade to us 2.0.7.4, which we have applied and testing currently. Initial result appears that we are seeing fewer incidents of hung beacon and no wireless output.

Lawrence,

Please call support and open a case. Support can escalate your case for the stuck beacon issue. I believe there is a beta firmware that mitigates or resolves that issue. You will need a Cisco User ID (Register at cisco.com) and a device serial number to open a case.

I have two (2) of the WAP4410N units that have only just recently started exhibiting this symptom.  Both running came version of firmware.

When I try and 'Open' a case [when I am already logged in via this User Profile], I get error/aler:

"In order to use this tool you must associate your service contracts with your Cisco.com account.

You can add service contracts to your profile using the Cisco Profile Manager or have your service access management administrator do this for you.

For urgent issues or products covered under warranty, please contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center by phone"

I am a 'simple' Lnksys/Cisco end user that does not have a 'contract'.

We don't have support contract either - just contacted Cisco to log a case and then they released a beta firmware upgrade to us, that we are currently testing.

LY - thanks for sharing the steps you took to get the beta release.   I will follow suit.

I just checked for Firware Updates and it shows a v2.0.7.4 is available which was released 22-Jan-2014 - for the PoE/Advanced Security version of the WAP4410N.  My units are have PoE 'but when checkng 'About' they do not include 'Advanced Security' in the name displayed.

Curious if that version number matches the beta release you are testing?

WHen first loading this link the 'Download' button did not invoke a download and a 'Add To Cart' button was not displayed.  So I backed out and went in again and the 2nd button was there ...

The Release notes for this version says it suppoirts ALL versions of WAP4410N.

However, the RNs do not mention a fix for the issue of 'stuck beacon'.

Peter,

v2.0.7.4 was released as an emergency patch to fix a security issue. I don't think that the stuck beacon fix was included in that release. You should still pursue the beta firmware for the issue you are experiencing.

same here - we have several issues since we updated to the latest firmware 2.0.7.4 to fix the backdoor-issue.
Then we had issues of connection loss, not provided SSID's and hang-ups.

Before we used 2.0.5.4 (beta - which was almost stable) on 23 AP's (WAP-4410N).

I tried to downgrade to 2.0.6.1 now to get the AP's stable again. SSID's are provided now but the connection seems to be very slow with disconnects.

Unfortunately we can't find the firmware 2.0.5.4 (beta) anymore. Is there any way to get this again?

Regards, Nils

All,

I have been informed that release 2.0.7.4 is the beta with the security issue fixed. So at this time it is the latest release and there is no longer a beta firmware available currently.
